Job summary

The Bowers Group – A Legence Company, based in Beltsville, Maryland, is seeking a highly capable Controller to oversee financial reporting, compliance, and operational support in an in-office role. You will collaborate with the Senior Controller and cross‑functional teams to drive accuracy and efficiency.

Ideal candidates have a CPA, 7+ years in accounting (public or corporate), and construction industry exposure, with strong US GAAP and ASC 606 knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• At least seven years of accounting experience in public or corporate accounting.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Construction industry experience strongly preferred.
• Firm knowledge of US GAAP.
• Knowledge of ASC 606 and percentage-of-completion accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and consolidation of budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare internal KPI dashboards and monthly/quarterly financial statements.
• Oversee month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations and accruals.
• Participate in audits and ensure documentation for auditors.
• Utilize ERP systems to meet financial and operational goals.
• Collaborate with IT to maintain financial records and processes.
• Identify workflow gaps and drive process improvements.
• Supervise AR, AP, job costing, and GL; support project forecasting.
• Lead or support financial analyses and ad hoc reporting.
