Job summary

EMCOR Group is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support the CFO in accurate, timely financial reporting. The role covers the general ledger, close processes, project accounting, billing, payroll coordination, and internal controls within a construction-focused environment.

The ideal candidate has seven+ years in accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, Excel proficiency, and ERP experience, with CPA/CMA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of seven years' progressive accounting experience with full cycle and financial statement prep.
• Experience leading month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, controls, and audit support.
• Supervising, coaching, or developing accounting personnel.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting practices.
• Advanced Excel and ERP/construction accounting system experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including journal reviews and reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger, COA, and reporting systems.
• Oversee project accounting, job-cost reporting, WIP, revenue recognition, and closeout.
• Review project financial performance with managers; improve forecast accuracy.
• Oversee AP/AR, payroll coordination, cash receipts, and disbursements.
• Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and working capital requirements.
• Develop, document, and monitor internal controls; support audits and tax reporting.
• Coordinate audits; provide documentation to CFO and external advisors.
• Improve ERP routines, system controls, and data quality; support Viewpoint Vista.
