Job summary

Yonkers Contracting Company, Inc. is hiring an Assistant Controller with 7+ years of accounting experience in construction. The role supports the Controller in managing financial health and project-specific accounting, including job costing and WIP.

Responsibilities include project accounting, compliance and lien management, financial reporting, AIA billing, and aiding external audits. The team oversees AP/AR/payroll and related operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting/finance experience in construction or real estate development.
• CPA certification is required.
• Strong understanding of construction cost codes, the contract process, percentage of completion, and cost allocations.

Responsibilities

• Project accounting & job costing: analyze variances, track costs vs. budgets, allocate costs by project.
• WIP reporting: prepare Work-in-Progress schedules using percentage-of-completion for revenue recognition.
• Compliance & lien management: oversee subcontractor/supplier compliance and lien waivers, certificates, and W-9s.
• Financial reporting: assist month-end/year-end close and consolidate financial statements.
• Billing & draws: manage AIA billing and monthly loan draw requests for capital projects.
• Audit & tax: serve as primary contact for external auditors and assist with tax filings.
• Staff supervision: oversee AP/AR/payroll teams and daily accounting operations.
