Job summary

Yonkers Contracting is seeking an Assistant Controller with 7+ years of accounting experience, including construction project accounting. You will partner with the Controller to oversee job costing, billing, tax support, and monthly close processes in a dynamic construction environment.

The role requires CPA certification and a deep understanding of cost codes, percentage-of-completion, internal controls, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting and finance experience, with construction/real estate a plus.
• CPA certification required.
• Strong understanding of cost codes, percentage completion, and construction cost allocations.

Responsibilities

• Project Accounting & Job Costing: analyze variances and track costs against budgets for each construction project.
• WIP reporting: prepare and review schedules using percentage-of-completion method.
• Compliance & lien management: oversee subcontractor and supplier compliance including waivers, certificates, and W-9s.
• Financial reporting: assist in month-end/year-end close and consolidate statements.
• Billing & draws: manage construction billing (AIA) and monthly loan draw requests.
• Audit & tax support: liaise with external auditors and assist in tax filings.
• Staff supervision: oversee AP, AR, and payroll teams.
