Job summary

The City of Rockville is seeking a Building Inspector to secure and maintain compliance with building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and energy conservation codes. You will perform intermediate- to complex-level inspections, plan reviews, licensing, and administrative work under supervision.

The role requires interpreting complex codes, addressing inquiries, and applying requirements across projects. Responsibilities include reviewing site plans and drawings for code compliance, issuing

Qualifications

• High school degree; and five (5) years of progressively responsible work in building construction or code enforcement; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Appropriate ICC certifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential and commercial construction for compliance with approved plans and codes.
• Review construction plans submitted for permits.
• Issue permits and enforce code requirements; issue notices of violation as needed.
• Conduct field inspections and prepare reports documenting findings and compliance.
