The City of Rockville is seeking a Code Enforcement Inspector to perform difficult technical and administrative work ensuring compliance with building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fuel gas, and energy conservation codes. You will conduct field inspections, prepare reports, gather evidence, and testify in court when needed.

Qualifications include a High School diploma and five years of relevant inspection experience with broad knowledge of construction codes; ICC Certifications may be

• High School degree; and five (5) years of progressively responsible work in building construction and/or inspection demonstrating broad knowledge of construction codes.
• Possession of ICC Certifications within one year of employment is preferred and three of the listed certifications are required.
• Knowledge of Maryland Building Performance Standards and related codes.

Responsabilidades

• Inspects residential and/or commercial construction to verify compliance with approved plans and codes.
• Advise contractors and property owners on code requirements and solutions.
• Conduct follow-up inspections and enforce compliance including notices and citations.
• Investigate citizen complaints regarding code violations and unpermitted work.
• Maintain knowledge of codes via seminars, independent study, and internet courses.
• Prepare accurate documentation and reports for permits and inspections.
