Construction Bookkeeper - Own the Finances & Payroll

LHH is partnering with a well-established, small construction company near Sacramento that’s known for delivering high-quality projects and making a meaningful impact locally. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants to take ownership of the full accounting process in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Managing day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, payroll, cash receipts, bank deposits)
• Processing certified payroll and ensuring compliance with construction requirements
• Leading month-end and year-end close processes
• Handling tax filings (payroll tax, sales tax, W-2s, 1099s)
• Monitoring cash flow and financial performance
• Preparing and analyzing monthly financial reports for leadership
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and audit coordination

What we’re looking for:

• 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (construction experience highly preferred)
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel
• Experience with certified payroll and compliance reporting
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate with leadership
• Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance (CPA a plus)
