The Weitz Company seeks a Billing Specialist to be located at our Cedar Rapids, IA office. The role focuses on accurate billing, project cost tracking, and receivables management within our construction teams.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, 5+ years of relevant experience or 3 years in construction accounting, and strong Excel and accounting software skills (Tungsten, JDE). On-site role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma required.
• Experience: 5+ years or 3+ years in construction accounting.
• Skills: Prioritization, independent judgment, flexible work style, analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong communication.
• Technology: Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook; able to learn Tungsten and JDE; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Report hours for certified payroll jobs.
• Balance payroll hours with customer billings.
• Set up, monitor, and close out projects.
• Assist project team with cost information and reporting.
• Research and collect past-due receivables.
• Maintain contract files for each construction project.
• Prepare billings to clients.
• Identify discrepancies in payables and receivables.
• Prepare journal entries as needed.
• Bill equipment, consumables, and hours to projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
