Job summary

Dean Dorton’s Construction Assurance Services chapter leads engagements from initiation to delivery, guiding teams and client relationships to ensure high-quality, timely assurance deliverables for construction industry clients such as general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and real estate entities.

The role focuses on technical accounting practices, risk coverage, and collaboration with cross-functional firm teams to uphold standards and foster client confidence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Five to six years of experience in an assurance or accounting related role, with prior experience serving construction industry clients strongly preferred.
• CPA licensure required; other certifications (e.g., CCIFP) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of assurance engagements and risk assessments for construction industry clients, including budgeting and scheduling, executing processes and procedures, and meeting deadlines.
• Review workpapers and financial statements—including percentage-of-completion, job cost schedules, and bonding-related reporting.
• Manage client relationships by serving as the main point of contact for construction clients and advocating for firm services (tax, advisory, etc.).
• Create and execute assurance plans, including designing tests, identifying scope, and planning schedules with construction-specific risk focus.
• Train, mentor, and develop staff; coordinate engagement teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Assist in business development efforts, including attending industry events and promoting firm services.
