Job summary

Hinckley Allen is seeking a mid-level associate to join our construction practice in Boston. The role covers drafting and negotiating contracts, claim preparation, and mediation, litigation, and appeals support.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years’ experience taking/defending depositions, drafting and arguing dispositive motions, and preparing for arbitrations and trials. MA Bar admission is required and e-discovery experience is a plus.

Job description

Hinckley Allen is seeking a mid-level associate to join our team of attorneys representing construction clients in all facets of their businesses – from contract drafting and negotiation, to claim preparation and presentation, and to mediations, litigation, and appeals. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience taking and defending depositions, drafting, and arguing dispositive motions, and preparing for arbitrations, mediations, and trial. The candidate should also have experience with e-discovery. Experience in preparing and negotiating construction contracts, as well as in litigating various types of construction disputes, including delay and disruption claims, payment disputes, and breach of contract claims, is a plus. Admission to Massachusetts Bar required.

In this role, you will engage in the preparation of construction contracts, evaluate, manage and monitor complex construction disputes and litigation matters, engage in risk management of potential and existing claims, develop litigation and resolution strategies, report to clients, manage local counsel and experts, and collaborate with multiple entities.

Candidates must have strong writing and oral communication skills, along with an excellent academic record. Must also be highly motivated and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team.

Salary Range: $170,000 – $200,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on office location, as well as education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
