Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a motivated Construction Assistant Project Manager / Junior Project Manager to support commercial construction from preconstruction to closeout. You will assist in planning, client communications, subcontractor coordination, and project execution under a Senior Project Manager.

The role is full-time (40 hours) and primarily onsite with about 1–2 remote days per month; travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of construction experience preferred.
• Experience supporting commercial projects and coordinating with subs/vendors is desirable.
• Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, and field activities to deliver projects.
• Attend client meetings, document discussions, and record minutes.
• Process RFIs and submittals, track responses and approvals.
• Maintain material procurement and equipment lead-time logs.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders to meet milestones.
• Build strong relationships with clients and project teams.
• Serve as a primary communication point for assigned projects and client workstreams.
• Support project documentation, reporting, and overall administration.
• Travel to project sites as needed to oversee progress.

Vaco of Highspring is hiring a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Assistant Project Manager / Junior Project Manager to support the successful execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. This role serves as a key member of the operations team, supporting project planning, client communications, subcontractor coordination, and overall project execution while working directly with a Senior Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in leading construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and construction activities to support successful project delivery.
• Participate in client meetings, document discussions, and maintain accurate meeting minutes.
• Independently process, track, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals.
• Maintain material procurement and tracking logs while monitoring equipment lead time.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.
• Serve as a primary point of communication for assigned projects and ongoing client workstreams.
• Support project documentation, reporting, and overall project administration.
• Travel to project sites as needed to monitor progress and support field operations.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
• Associate degree required.

Required Experience

• 1 to 3 years of relevant construction industry experience preferred.
• Experience supporting commercial construction projects and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of construction project management processes.
• Ability to manage RFIs, submittals, procurement tracking, and project documentation.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and clients.
• Full-time position (40 hours per week).
• Primarily onsite with flexibility to work remotely approximately 1 to 2 days per month.
• Project site travel required as needed.
• Salary range: $70,000 to $85,000 annually
• Optional vehicle/truck allowance available.
• Bonus opportunity up to 10% of annual salary.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Senior Project Manager and supports the management of ongoing client projects for a well-established commercial construction organization.
