Job summary

TMG Construction in Leesburg, VA seeks an Assistant Project Manager to oversee cradle-to-grave life cycles of small commercial or institutional design/build projects, or support larger programs across delivery methods (IDIQ, Lump-Sum, Design/Build, Fast Track).

The role involves coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project controls, reviewing shop drawings, and supporting scheduling and cost reporting; travel to job sites is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of experience with a commercial/industrial contractor or 5 years with no degree.
• Solid understanding of construction means and methods for renovation projects.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and standard construction software.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain project controls across tasks, RFIs, submittals, and quality/safety/financial tracking.
• Review shop drawings and submittals with SMEs to document construction processes.
• Manage change orders, logs, pricing, estimates, and proposals.
• Estimate quantities using digitizers, 3D models, and traditional methods.
• Develop and monitor project schedules using scheduling software.
• Coordinate layout with CAD tools and review shop drawings for fit.
• Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders as needed.
• Produce regular reports using project management software (TMG Project Center, USACE QCS/RMS, Prolog).
• Identify issues early and facilitate timely resolutions.
• Contribute to project closeout and value engineering assessments.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and industry networking.
