Position Overview

The Asphalt Roller Operator will be responsible for operating machines to spread, smooth, level, and compact asphalt and gravel to job specifications. This includes driving heavy rolling machines to compact earth fills, subgrade, streets, and runways. Operators will control the machine by manipulating levers, pedals, handwheels, and throttles. Additionally, they will perform other duties related to paving as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
• Conduct daily safety inspections and assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA's, TRACK, etc.).
• Operate the machine by controlling levers, pedals, handwheels, and throttles.
• Drive the machine in overlapping passes to ensure proper compaction.
• Adjust speed and direction based on material compressibility and temperature conditions to prevent ridges.
• Use hand tampers or portable power rollers to pound surfaces in inaccessible areas.
• Ensure finished surfaces meet customer requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must submit to drug screening and criminal background checks.
• Ability to work various shifts, including day, night, or weekends as needed.

Education/Experience

• High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of experience is preferred.
