Job summary

The Shelly Company is seeking an Area Manager to oversee construction and paving operations across a designated region. You will drive profitability, manage projects, and lead a team while maintaining strong customer relations and public engagement.

You will coordinate safety, budgeting, scheduling, and QA/QC activities, while ensuring adherence to company policies and community standards. Travel and flexible hours are required for project coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience in paving production and laydown, knowledge of paver setup and relevant specs; proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction costing in line with safety procedures and business plan.
• Review work plans with area Forepersons to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Maintain operational scheduling for area jobs and plants.
• Coordinate plant production for internal and external sales.
• Review and update financial reports – weekly job costs, monthly CTC and others.
• Maintain customer relations with area customers and suppliers.
• Maintain public relations through donations, advertising, and community service.
• Approve various job related invoices.
• Ensure compliance with DBE and EDGE goals on area projects.
• Negotiate extra work, changed conditions, and claims on area projects.
• Investigate and mitigate quality and customer problems on area jobs with QA/QC support.
• Ensure clear understanding of job specs, requirements, and customer expectations to area teams.
• Ensure compliance of personnel with safety, environmental, ethics policies.
