Job summary

JM Construction, a family-owned general contractor based in Paso Robles, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist in San Luis Obispo County. The role involves processing vendor and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accurate job coding, and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–4 years of Accounts Payable experience; construction industry experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of construction accounting practices including job cost coding, progress billings, retention and lien waiver processes.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, Premier or similar ERP).
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with digital document management systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage high invoice volumes.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to interact professionally with vendors, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Process and enter vendor and subcontractor invoices with proper job/project coding.
• Perform three-way matching of POs, receiving docs, and invoices; resolve discrepancies with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with superintendents, estimators, and operations to retrieve missing receipts for job cost reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve AP workflows and controls.
