Job summary

J. Benton Construction, LLC in the U.S. Virgin Islands is seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant to support the accounting team with vendor invoices, data entry, and document controls. This role emphasizes accuracy, timely processing, and collaboration with the shipping and finance teams.

You will match receipts to POs, review and process invoices for payment, respond to vendor inquiries, reconcile statements, and maintain organized financial records and databases to enable clear reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related coursework preferred.
• Experience in data entry, administrative or clerical work.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with QuickBooks Online and/or Sage 300 CRE is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable Support: match receipts and purchase orders with vendor invoices to ensure accuracy before payment processing.
• Review, verify, and process invoices for payment in accordance with company policies.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and assist in the reconciliation of vendor statements.
• Reconcile credit card statements and compile related invoices/receipts with cost coding.
• Data Management & Administration: data entry of financial transactions into the accounting system and maintain/update financial databases and spreadsheets.
• Organize and file invoices, expense reports, and payment records both electronically and physically.
• Logistics & Shipping Support: work with shipping to gather documentation for freight invoices and liaise with clearing agencies for duty/tax payments.
