Job summary

My Construction CFO is seeking an experienced, hands-on Construction Accountant to oversee accounting operations, WIP schedules, and project financial performance for multiple Orange County construction clients. This role reports to the Fractional CFO and collaborates with client management to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely monthly closes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least 3–5 years of construction accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Experience preparing financial statements and completing monthly closes.
• Strong general ledger reconciliation and analytical skills.
• Experience with construction ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities across multiple clients.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with project managers and executives.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and review monthly WIP schedules and analyze costs to complete and margins.
• Reconcile project job-cost reports to the general ledger and review cost allocations.
• Manage monthly close, GL reconciliations, and period-end adjustments.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and support bank, surety, and external accountants as needed.
• Maintain ERP data, budgets, and change orders across multiple clients.
• Coordinate with project managers to evaluate budgets, forecasts, and margins.
