Renowned Recruitment Group is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting for a residential construction and design-build business in California.

This role emphasizes construction accounting, job costing, and work-in-progress; you will work closely with project managers and leadership to understand project costs, profitability, and cash flow, while maintaining accurate accounting records and timely reporting.

Qualifikationen

• Experience with WIP schedules and job costing.
• Experience reviewing project budgets, cost-to-complete estimates, change orders, and project profitability.
• Ability to independently manage month-end close and day-to-day accounting.
• Working knowledge of construction revenue recognition, overbillings, and underbillings.

Aufgaben

• Prepare, maintain, and reconcile WIP schedules, reviewing budgets, costs incurred, estimated costs to complete, and projected profitability.
• Validate cost-to-complete estimates with project managers and identify cost overruns, margin changes, and discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate job costing including labor, materials, subcontractors, commitments, and change orders.
• Track contract values, change orders, project billings, and collections.
• Review revenue recognition, overbillings, and underbillings per policy.
• Manage daily accounting activities: AP, AR, GL, reconciliations.
• Complete month-end close with journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for proper coding and approvals.
• Monitor cash flow, payments, and outstanding receivables.
• Prepare routine financial statements and project-level reports for management.
• Coordinate with outside accounting and tax professionals as needed.
• Improve accounting processes and controls; provide guidance to staff.
