Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant – Construction to oversee financial activities across residential and commercial projects. You will manage settlements, job costs, and general ledger, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate reporting for multiple communities.

The role requires 4–6+ years in accounting with construction costing, ERP experience (Timberline/Sage 300, Sage Intacct), and advanced Excel. Collaboration with operations, purchasing, and leadership is key.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business discipline.
• CPA or CMA designation preferred or actively pursuing.
• 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience with 2–3 years in construction costing and real estate development.
• Experience reviewing the work of staff accountants or AP/AR teams.
• Multi-entity accounting across multiple legal entities or active development projects.
• Proficiency with ERP/construction accounting software (Timberline/Sage 300 Construction, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel.
• Strong GAAP knowledge including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and HUD settlement statements.
• Excellent communication and cross‑department collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Record customer deposits and closings per PSAs and HUDs.
• Finalize job cost summaries and monthly WIP schedules; record COGS on closed homes.
• Reconcile WIP, inventory, AP, AR, and other ledgers to the trial balance.
• Manage billables and commissions for GC fees on closed homes and active projects.
• Assist budgeting and SG&A expense review for yearly budget prep.
• Maintain internal controls and GAAP compliance; support audits.
• Provide training and guidance to operational staff.
• Drive process improvements in accounting workflows.
