Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a constructability-focused professional in Houston to oversee the constructability phase of construction projects and ensure company standards through detailing processes. You will coordinate with internal departments and external customers to deliver quality project execution.

The role requires strong communication, scheduling oversight, budgeting, and mentoring of detailers, with experience in HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal trades and BIM/CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 6 years of related experience, including project/people management or trade apprentice program and 4 years of field experience.
• Field Foreman/General Foreman preferred.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to write, edit and proofread content.
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents.
• Current knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal trades and field installation methods.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to coordinate projects.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Ability to interpret the Construction Schedule to integrate a design pull schedule.
• Ability to train less experienced Detailers.
• Ability to direct the workflow of less experienced Detailers.
• Working knowledge of AEC, BIM, CAD software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Leads constructability on assigned projects.
• Partners with the design and modeling group to incorporate constructability knowledge to minimize model rework.
• Leads communication between project team members to ensure a successful product; addresses concerns.
• Provides material, content and feedback to applicable team members.
• Leads final trade coordination and sign-off with the General Contractor.
• Contributes to design pull schedule to direct model development to meet deliverables.
• Manages resources assigned to the project.
• Participates in conceptual design efforts to promote modular construction and constructability standards.
• Manages budget and project costs.
• Builds relationships with clients.
• Ensures Connected Solutions where applicable.
