Job summary

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources seeks a Natural Resources Manager to administer the Conservation Stewardship Program, providing front-line support and coordination with field staff. This position supervises staff, develops conservation management plans, conducts statewide inspections, and works with the Department of Revenue to implement program requirements.

The role reports to the Section Manager and involves both technical program management and supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in fish, wildlife, forestry, natural heritage resource management, or related biological science.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in fish, wildlife, forestry, or natural heritage resource management.
  • Two years of professional experience providing technical direction/supervision to natural resource staff.
  • Two years of experience establishing working relationships with federal, state, and local government representatives and conservation organizations.
  • Two years of experience collecting and analyzing technical data and information.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Conservation Stewardship Program and provide front-line support with field staff.
  • Supervise staff and develop conservation management plans.
  • Conduct statewide inspections and coordinate with other agencies.
  • Collaborate with Department of Revenue to implement program requirements.
  • Report to the Section Manager and manage both technical program and supervisory duties.
