Job summary

The Nature Conservancy in Minnesota seeks a Government Relations Associate to support policy work at the Minnesota State Capitol and advance conservation priorities across MN, ND, and SD. You will help craft policy research, strategy and communications to inform elected officials and internal staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive report.
• Experience preparing written materials such as memos, research documents, policy summaries, official correspondence.
• Experience presenting to and communicating with internal and external audiences.
• Experience interacting with senior leadership in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Support policy and Government Relations work for the MN-ND-SD chapter at the Minnesota State Capitol.
• Collaborate with the Director of Policy and Government Relations to drive conservation goals across MN, ND, and SD.
• Provide research, policy analysis and strategy development for land, water, climate and agriculture objectives.
• Track hearings, policies and decisions and prepare lobbying materials, memos and communications.
• Develop strategic partnerships with agencies, conservation orgs and industry; liaison with outside organizations.
• Supervise interns or temporary staff and assist with budgeting and travel expense reporting.
• Assist with project coordination, compliance with internal and external requirements.
