Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Government Relations Associate to support policy and advocacy work across MN-ND-SD. You will research and analyze policy options related to land, water, climate, and agriculture, and help develop strategy and lobbying materials for elected officials and internal teams.

You will also build partnerships with agencies and conservation partners, coordinate with leadership, and help supervise interns while handling budget and travel tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years related work experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive report.
  • Experience preparing written materials such as memos, research documents, policy summaries, official correspondence.
  • Experience presenting to and communicating with internal and external audiences.
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Support policy and government relations work at the MN-ND-SD capitol and beyond.
  • Provide research, policy analysis, and strategy development for land, water, climate, and agriculture priorities.
  • Prepare lobbying materials, memos, and communications for officials and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with agencies, conservation groups, and industry.
  • supervise interns or temporary staff; manage budgets and travel expenses; assist with team projects and administrative tasks.
