Job summary

AmeriCorps is seeking participants for the Leadership Development Program in Nevada. You will join a recreation and restoration crew, gaining hands-on conservation experience and leadership training. The program combines classroom, mentorship, and field work to build skills in safety, teamwork, and project execution.

Participants will complete trail work, habitat restoration, and invasive species control, with opportunities to advance to crew leader after completion and a leadership retreat.

Qualifications

• Experience and interest in environmental restoration or conservation projects.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
• Willingness to learn and apply safety protocols and teamwork in field settings.

Responsibilities

• Learn and practice trail construction and maintenance using hand tools and equipment at project sites.
• Receive training in hazardous fuels reduction and habitat restoration using tools like chainsaws, handsaws, and loppers.
• Develop competencies in invasive species identification and control using manual, mechanical, and chemical methods.
• Gain experience in decommissioning illegal roads and fence construction/removal.
• Cultivate a professional attitude while communicating with crew members, leaders, NCC staff, and sponsors.
• Work toward meeting production and quality standards set by NCC administration and project partners.
