Job summary

AmeriCorps is seeking a Restoration and Recreation Technician based in the Reno/LV area with field assignments across Nevada. The role runs 08/17/2026 to 12/18/2026, offering a living allowance, per diem, and a housing stipend, with options for shared housing.

The crew will build trails, restore wildlife habitat, and reduce hazards in forests and public lands, including field training in GIS, defensive driving, and related certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining trails.
  • Restoring and improving wildlife habitat.
  • Reducing hazardous fuels in forests and public lands (herbicide/pesticide, chainsaw, power tool and hand tool usage).
  • Camping up to seven nights in wilderness settings without formal restroom facilities or running water.
  • Communicating effectively with crew members, crew leaders and project staff.
  • Contributing to campsite duties including cooking, cleaning and organizing crew equipment.
  • Showing respect when interacting with others (members, leaders, staff, sponsors).
  • Participating in in-field education sessions.

Job description

This position is based out of Reno and Las Vegas, NV field station. Crews will travel throughout the region to complete projects from their assigned field station. Season Timeline: Fall Season Las Vegas, NV Field Station Start: 9/21/2026 End: 12/18/2026 Several Options Available depending on lengths of service-term, Season Location, as well as opportunities for multi-season service terms. Compensation and Benefits: This is an AmeriCorps position and candidates will receive a living allowance of 1,353.84 biweekly. The position also receives a per diem of $15 per day in the field (Averaging $120 biweekly). This position offers a $100 weekly housing stipend. Alternatively, shared housing is available as an option in place of the housing stipend. Candidates can choose the option that best meets their needs at the time of hire.   • Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Member Duties
  • Building and maintaining trails
  • restoring and improving wildlife habitat
  • reducing hazardous fuels in our forests and public lands, which includes herbicide/pesticide, chainsaw, power tool and hand tool usage.
  • Camping up to seven nights in wilderness setting without formal restroom facilities or running water
  • Communicating effectively with crew members, crew leaders, NCC staff and agency project staff
  • Complying with both production and quality project standards established by NCC Administration, crew supervisors and project partners
  • Contributing to basic duties at the campsite including cooking, cleaning and organizing crew equipment
  • Showing respect when interacting with other members, leaders, staff, project sponsors and community members
  • Participating in in-field education sessions
  • Percentage of time spent on: project tasks– 70%, traveling– 20%, hiking– 10%
  • Lifting 25lbs continuously and 50lbs occasionally
