Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Engineering Manager, Connectivity Hardware to lead a small team responsible for end-to-end ECU hardware development for connectivity telematics modules across GM vehicles. You will own BoM, ECRs, and supplier engagement while ensuring performance, cost, and timing targets are met through multiple program life cycles.

You will drive packaging and integration, work with cross-functional teams, and maintain DFMEA with suppliers to improve field robustness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of hardware development experience in automotive or related industries.
  • Experience with GM sourcing, part release, and ECR processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of hardware design release engineers responsible for development and release of connectivity hardware modules.
  • Drive specification development for connectivity components (RF, power, performance, safety).
  • Own sourcing, ECRs, and alignment with Product Cost Engineering activities for hardware solutions.
  • Lead packaging and integration of hardware into vehicle platforms meeting mechanical, thermal, and EMC constraints.
  • Manage program-specific interface control documents (ICDe/ICDm) and BoM for Tier‑N resiliency and timing.
  • Coordinate hardware prototypes, DV, PV, and launch builds with suppliers and teams.
  • Coordinate issue triage and root-cause analysis with hardware experts.
  • Support in-vehicle system test plans to ensure performance meets specifications.
  • Ensure design documentation meets safety, EMC/EMI, cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
