Job summary

General Motors LLC seeks a Senior Mechanical Hardware Engineer to lead ECU connector and header development for power, high‑speed signals, RF, and I/O within vehicle packaging constraints.

You will own content from concept through release, specify materials, drive sealing and EMI considerations, and collaborate with electrical, PCB, packaging, and supplier teams to deliver production‑ready solutions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 6–10+ years of mechanical design experience in complex electromechanical assemblies or automotive electronics.
  • Experience with headers and connectors design for power, high‑speed signals, RF, and I/O.
  • Hands‑on connector terminal and bus bar design; PCB/housing integration.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, seals, and manufacturing considerations for connector systems.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter to create robust models and released data.
  • Good GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical fundamentals.
  • Ability to collaborate with electrical, PCB, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical development of ECU headers and connectors for power, high‑speed, RF, and I/O.
  • Own content from concept through production release, including housings, headers, terminals, seals, and bus bar interfaces.
  • Define terminal architectures and material selections for performance and manufacturability.
  • Develop sealing strategies and EMI considerations for connector-to‑housing interfaces.
  • Create and maintain 3D/2D CAD data in NX and Teamcenter; apply GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Coordinate with electrical/PCB teams on pinout constraints, attachment strategies, and packaging.
