JOHN LEONARD, a premier staffing firm in Boston, seeks a Conflicts Analyst to identify and analyze potential conflicts of interest for new clients and matters. You will work closely with Intake Attorneys and firm lawyers to support legal compliance, risk management, and efficient new business intake.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in law firm conflicts.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct and conflict of interest requirements.
  • Proficiency with Intapp Open, Elite 3E, and iManage.
  • Experience using Capital IQ and LexisNexis for corporate research.
  • Strong legal research and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Strong judgment, integrity, and discretion with confidential information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer-service mindset.
  • Proactive, self-motivated; commitment to high-quality work.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software.
  • Flexibility for overtime, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct conflict of interest searches and analysis per conduct rules.
  • Communicate findings and next steps to Intake Attorneys and firm lawyers.
  • Generate Intapp Open requests and prepare conflict reports.
  • Conduct corporate research to identify affiliations and ownership links.
  • Gather information from attorneys and staff for accurate searches.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of conflict resolution efforts and outcomes.
  • Review new business submissions for completeness and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate party information and matter descriptions.
  • Prioritize requests and manage workflow to meet deadlines.
  • Support development of conflicts policies and workflows.
  • Advise personnel on conflicts policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Participate in off-hours coverage rotation.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties.

Job description

Salary Range: $85K-$100K

Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 9-5

Required: Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of professional experience, including at least 1 year of law firm conflicts experience

About the Opportunity

The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for identifying, researching, and conducting preliminary analysis of potential conflicts of interest associated with new clients and matters. Working closely with Intake Attorneys and firm lawyers, this position supports legal compliance, risk management, and new business intake.

Key Job Functions
  • Conduct conflict of interest searches and analysis in accordance with the Rules of Professional Conduct, applicable state ethics rules, engagement terms, and client guidelines
  • Communicate conflict findings, recommendations, and required next steps to Intake Attorneys and firm lawyers
  • Generate and process Intapp Open requests for new business and prepare conflict reports
  • Conduct corporate research to identify affiliations, subsidiaries, ownership structures, and other relevant relationships
  • Communicate with attorneys and administrative professionals to gather information needed for accurate conflict searches
  • Maintain detailed documentation of conflict resolution efforts, research, and outcomes
  • Review new business submissions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal procedures
  • Maintain accurate party information, matter descriptions, and related records within internal databases
  • Prioritize incoming requests and collaborate with team members to manage workflow and meet deadlines
  • Support the development and refinement of conflicts procedures, policies, and workflows
  • Advise firm personnel on established conflicts and engagement policies and procedures
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members as needed
  • Participate in an off-hours coverage rotation, including occasional weekends and holidays
  • Assist with special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
