The Configuration Manager is responsible for implementing and executing the process daily in line with global standards within a specific domain. This includes managing activities related to planning, identifying, controlling, tracking, and auditing Configuration Items (CIs) within the Standard Reference Architecture (SRA) Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
It is recommended to assign a Configuration Manager per Customer Account, though one individual may oversee multiple smaller accounts. The role involves ensuring team training on the Configuration Management process, maintaining data accuracy and integrity in the CMDB, and leading process evaluations for improvements. Knowledge of Service Discovery and mapping is essential.
Technical expertise in the CMDB is required, including understanding how to handle discovery issues and ensure all CIs are properly entered into the environment.
