Job Description

The Configuration Manager is responsible for implementing and executing the process daily in line with global standards within a specific domain. This includes managing activities related to planning, identifying, controlling, tracking, and auditing Configuration Items (CIs) within the Standard Reference Architecture (SRA) Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

It is recommended to assign a Configuration Manager per Customer Account, though one individual may oversee multiple smaller accounts. The role involves ensuring team training on the Configuration Management process, maintaining data accuracy and integrity in the CMDB, and leading process evaluations for improvements. Knowledge of Service Discovery and mapping is essential.

Technical expertise in the CMDB is required, including understanding how to handle discovery issues and ensure all CIs are properly entered into the environment.

Job Responsibilities

1. Own the Configuration Management Plan: Guide the implementation and operation of the process within the domain, troubleshooting CMDB discovery issues, and coordinating with relevant teams to ensure data completeness.
2. Manage CI Data: Oversee the planning, control, and auditing of CIs in the CMDB, including setting up discovery schedules and service mapping to improve data quality. Ensure billing-related items are correctly entered into the CMDB with quick turnaround times for fixes.
3. Promote Process Use: Encourage effective use of the Configuration Management process and CMDB in line with DXC standards, ensuring all billable items are represented.
4. Reporting: Generate and review configuration management metrics and maturity assessments, sharing insights with management and teams to identify improvement areas.
5. Data Integrity and Compliance: Conduct verification and audit procedures to maintain CI data accuracy, including ad hoc compliance checks, with examples like server CI data including owner and support group details.
6. Documentation and Training: Maintain supporting documentation and ensure training materials are accessible.
7. Support KPE Processes: Monitor and audit KPE activities as per client contracts; KPE accuracy is the PEM's responsibility.
8. Standards Compliance: Adhere to global process, standards, and best practices.
