Job summary

Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center in Beaverton, OR is seeking a Tumbling & Gymnastics Instructor to lead preschool and youth tumbling and gymnastics programs. The role emphasizes movement, safety, and fun while building confidence in young participants.

Part-time position with Tue/Thu between 8:00am-6:00pm; pay ranges by Instructor level and experience. Employees receive free drop-in access to THPRD facilities for their household; CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30

Qualifications

• No teaching experience required; love working with people of all ages and abilities.
• Must be able to work inside and outside; be at least 16 years of age.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification OR ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging preschool and youth tumbling and gymnastics classes that promote skill development, confidence, and fun.
• Teach age-appropriate foundational skills such as balance, coordination, body control, jumping, rolling, climbing, and basic gymnastics movements.
• Provide instruction and activities appropriate for participants’ ages, abilities, and skill levels.
• Support individual participants while managing small-group dynamics.
• Maintain a safe and organized instructional environment and follow safety practices with gymnastics equipment.
• Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of participants.
• Foster a welcoming environment that encourages confidence, independence, and a love of movement.

Conestoga Tumbling & Gymnastics Instructor

Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center is looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, and safety-focused Tumbling & Gymnastics Instructor to lead preschool and youth tumbling and gymnastics programming. We are seeking community-minded individuals who are passionate about movement, recreation, and working with young participants of all abilities and backgrounds.

As a Tumbling & Gymnastics Instructor, you’ll:

• Lead engaging preschool and youth tumbling and gymnastics classes that promote skill development, confidence, and fun
• Teach age-appropriate foundational skills such as balance, coordination, body control, jumping, rolling, climbing, and basic gymnastics movements
• Provide instruction and activities that are appropriate for participants’ ages, abilities, and skill levels
• Support individual participants while managing small-group dynamics
• Maintain a safe and organized instructional environment and follow appropriate safety practices when using gymnastics equipment
• Adapt activities and instruction to meet the needs and abilities of individual participants
• Foster a welcoming and positive environment that encourages confidence, independence, and a love of movement

To be considered for a position, instructors should have experience or interest in teaching tumbling, gymnastics, or related movement activities, particularly with preschool and youth participants. Experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial:

• Acro
• Cheerleading
• Dance
• Early childhood physical development
• Movement education
• Preschool gymnastics
• Recreational gymnastics
• Tumbling

Hours & Classification

Must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays within the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm. Hours will depend on programming. Part-time employees work fewer than 1,560 hours annually.

Qualifications

• Instructor I

No teaching experience required; must love working with people of all ages and abilities; be able to work inside and outside; and be at least 16 years of age.

Pay rate range: $19.78 to $22.30 hourly (based on experience and internal equity). Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

• Instructor II

Must have at least 1 year of experience in leading and instructing general classes and be at least 16 years of age.

Pay rate range: $21.81 to $24.59 hourly (based on experience and internal equity). Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

• Instructor III

Must have over 2 years of experience and specialized training in the assigned program area, be 18 years of age, and have a valid driver's license.

Pay rate range: $26.51 to $27.33 hourly (based on experience and internal equity). The full hourly range for this job classification is $26.51 to $29.89. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

Other Requirements

• Current CPR/First Aid certification OR ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
