Job summary

Powell Wellness Center in Culpeper, VA is seeking a Tumbling Instructor to lead age-appropriate classes for children 18 months to 12 years. You will create a positive, safe environment and plan sessions that fit each child’s development and abilities.

Ideal candidates have experience with children, an understanding of motor development, and strong communication and patience. CPR/AED certification or progression within 90 days is preferred; weekend or after-school hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with and/or teaching children is preferred.
• Understanding of age-appropriate motor development and safe progression of tumbling or gymnastics skills.
• Strong communication skills, enthusiasm, patience, and ability to create a fun, supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead tumbling classes for children ages 18 months–12 years.
• Plan and prepare sessions based on ages, abilities, and developmental needs.
• Teach fundamental tumbling and gymnastics skills using progressive techniques.
• Encourage and motivate participants while celebrating progress and accomplishments.
• Create an inclusive, welcoming environment for children and families.
• Monitor safety and address potential hazards.
• Set up, maintain, and store tumbling equipment; keep areas clean and safe.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with participants, parents, and guests.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; work cooperatively with team.

Do you enjoy working with children and have a passion for tumbling, gymnastics, or movement? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Tumbling Instructor to lead fun, engaging, and age-appropriate classes for children ages 18 months to 12 years.

Our Tumbling Instructors create a positive and encouraging environment where children can develop coordination, confidence, new skills, and a love for being active.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead safe, engaging, and age-appropriate tumbling classes for children ages 18 months–12 years.
• Plan and prepare organized class sessions based on participants’ ages, abilities, and developmental needs.
• Teach fundamental tumbling and gymnastics skills using safe, progressive techniques.
• Encourage and motivate participants while celebrating individual progress and accomplishments.
• Create an inclusive, welcoming, and positive environment for children and families.
• Monitor participants closely and identify and address potential safety concerns.
• Set up, maintain, and properly store tumbling equipment and keep instructional areas clean and safe.
• Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with participants, parents, members, and guests.
• Maintain knowledge of facility programs, classes, activities, and special events.
• Respond appropriately to medical or facility emergencies in accordance with established emergency procedures.
• Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
• Work cooperatively with team members and maintain a professional and positive presence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with and/or teaching children is preferred. Candidates should have an understanding of age-appropriate motor development and safe progression of tumbling or gymnastics skills, along with strong communication skills, enthusiasm, patience, and the ability to create a fun and supportive learning environment.
