Job summary

AVR, a McNamara Company, seeks a Control Technician to perform concrete inspections and testing for quality control at plant and job sites. Responsibilities include slump tests, cylinder breaks, temperature/air content checks, and aggregate gradation tests, with emphasis on safety and accurate data documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with construction/testing experience; ACI Field I Certification is preferred, along with strong math and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and testing on concrete to ensure it meets properties at plant and project site.
• Check temperature and air content of wet concrete; conduct slump tests and prepare cylinders.
• Break cylinders at 28 days and after pour; perform gradation and sieve tests on aggregates.
• Maintain safety policy compliance and document discrepancies in Quality Control files.
• Obtain/maintain ACI Field Testing certification; communicate information to dispatch and batch plants.
• Complete special projects as assigned and support general duties as needed.

Position Description

Job Summary:

The Control Technician performs inspections and testing on concrete to ensure that it meets the specified properties at the plant and on the project site.

Position Description:

• Checks temperature and air content of wet concrete.
• Conducts slump tests of wet concrete and makes cylinders for cylinder breaks.
• Breaks cylinders the day after a pour and 28 days after pieces are poured.
• Conducts gradation and sieve tests on various aggregate.
• Observant of compliance with safety policy and procedures.
• Records the necessary data for Quality Control files.
• Documents any discrepancies and corrections needed on product and ensures they are completed.
• Obtain and maintain the required ACI Concrete Field-Testing certification.
• Communicates with dispatch and batch plants to relay pertinent information throughout the day.
• Acts in professional manner that demonstrates the individual has good character and can be trusted by all employees.
• Complete special projects as requested and performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Requirements:

• High school diploma (or equiv); and previous construction related / materials testing experience
• preferred.
• ACI Field I Certification is preferred.
• Must have a good understanding of math and some computer aptitude.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from work.
• Able to prioritize work; strong organizational skills.

This position offers a starting range of $32.00 to $37.00 per hour with a bonus potential of up to $10,000 depending on experience.
