Job summary

S.M.H. Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a Carpenter to build concrete formwork for major heavy civil and infrastructure projects in the Charleston, WV area.

You will measure, cut, assemble, and install wooden formwork and modular frames for large-scale pours, working with senior field leaders on high-visibility public works. This full-time position features a four-day workweek with Fridays off, competitive prevailing wages, a 401(k) plan, comprehensive medical insurance options, and safety gear

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in residential framing, commercial carpentry, or formwork.
• Proficient with standard trade power tools, measuring devices and cutting equipment.
• Strong knowledge of job site safety protocols for heavy civil construction.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, assemble, and construct wooden and modular formwork for large-scale poured concrete structures.
• Build framing systems, bridge forms, and containment structures with high precision.
• Collaborate daily with the Superintendent and Carpenter Foreman on advanced techniques.
• Operate hand and power carpentry tools safely and maintain a clean, organized site.
• Support field teams to maintain progress across sites.
