Job summary

Hunter Contracting Co. is seeking skilled concrete finishers to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, and sidewalks across Arizona. You will use hand tools and power tools to achieve specified textures and finishes while adhering to safety policies.

You will collaborate with delivery, formwork, and finishing teams to ensure high-quality results on every project. Responsibilities include guiding concrete placement, leveling, detailing joints, and patching defects as needed,

Qualifications

• Safety-first mindset and adherence to site rules.
• Ability to accurately read tape measures and verify dimensions.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in concrete construction and repair.
• Ability to judge distances and slopes accurately on job sites.
• Familiarity with construction specifications and standard tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and finish concrete surfaces using hand tools or power tools.
• Signal equipment operators to position concrete delivery and formwork.
• Spread and level concrete to required depth and consistency.
• Smooth and shape surfaces with screeds, floats, and trowels.
• Repair defects and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy as needed.
• Mold expansion joints and edges; ensure prescribed finish quality.
• Follow safety policies and procedures at all times.

Concrete Finishers - Smoothes and finishes surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, highways, or curbs to specified textures using hand tools or power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds.

Concrete Finisher Roles, Duties, & Responsibilities:

• Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete.
• Moves discharge chute off truck to direct concrete into forms.
• Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms using rake or shovel.
• Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
• Smoothes and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straightedge and float or power screed.
• Finishes concrete surfaces using power trowel or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
• Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
• Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
• May sprinkle colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.
• May produce rough concrete surface using broom.
• May mix cement using hoe or concrete mixing machine.
• May direct sub-grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
• May break up and repair old concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
• Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies, procedures, and instructions from Management.

Work Qualifications:

• Practices good safety habits.
• Ability to read tape measures.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of structures, highways, or roads.
• Judges distances and slopes accurately.
• Knowledge of construction specifications.
• Knowledge of machines and tools.
