Job summary

Hunter Contracting Co. is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate activities on designated heavy civil projects in Arizona. You will ensure goals are met within timeframes and budgets, lead project staff, and report progress to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Requires B.A./B.S. in Construction or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Ten years of heavy civil construction experience, or equivalent mix of experience and training.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to meet goals within time and funding parameters.
• Establish work plans and staffing for each phase and coordinate recruitment.
• Direct project personnel to ensure progress on schedule and within budget.
• Prepare project reports and monitor pay estimates and invoices.

Job Purpose: To plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Roles, Duties, & Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents before project start.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and identify conflicts with estimates or plans.
• Develop and maintain project schedules with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate labor, equipment, subcontractors, material suppliers, and crews.
• Ensure timely submission of shop drawings, mix designs, permits, and project documentation.
• Manage subcontractor scheduling and monitor material lead times.
• Identify, document, and communicate project changes, change orders, and field issues.
• Coordinate Blue Stake, utility conflicts, surveying, testing, and required permits.
• Monitor project costs and review weekly cost reports with the Project Manager.
• Maintain safe job sites, traffic control, and compliance with all safety regulations.
• Ensure proper drainage and protect the project from weather-related damage.
• Maintain daily reports, as-built drawings, quantity reports, timesheets, and pay estimates.
• Inspect materials, verify deliveries, and submit field documentation promptly.
• Supervise Foremen and subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship.
• Hire, develop, evaluate, and manage field personnel in accordance with company procedures.
• Conduct project closeout activities, including final measurements, job reviews, and employee evaluations.
• Promote employee training, enforce company policies, and perform other assigned duties.
• Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies and procedures.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
  
  

Work Qualifications

• 10 years Heavy Civil Construction work experience.
• 5 years Work experience building Municipal Parks and Recreation Fields.
• When supervising workers engaged in several occupations, employee required to possess general knowledge of the activities involved.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspect of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, cost control schedules, and safety.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of buildings, highways, and/or roads.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
• Directing the work force under one’s control, including planning/organizing and redistributing work;
• Must possess a clean Drivers License.
• Bilingual preferred.
  
  

Education & Work Experience Guidelines

• B.A. or B.S. Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering; AND,
• Minimum ten (10) years’ construction experience; OR,
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as determined by the hiring manager.
