Job summary

GE Aerospace's Dayton site is seeking an entry-level CMO operator to perform precision manufacturing in a high-accuracy environment. You will follow detailed work instructions, operate pneumatic and hand tools, and verify measurements with calipers and micrometers to produce error-free parts.

Working at our Dayton site :

TDI has been leading design and manufacturer of turbine powered start systems for 40+ years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton, OH is a part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company. Unison is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site, Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry.

Role Overview:

  • Be proficient and perform CMO operations in assigned cell
  • Use pneumatic tools, hand tools and calibrated gauges to perform work
  • Operate machine(s) in a prescribed safe manner
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance
  • Verify calibration
  • Maintain eQuals requirements
  • Use standards shop measuring devices (calipers and micrometers)
  • Basic housekeeping of cell (5S)
  • Review, understand and follow work instructions, required specifications and blue prints to perform manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure all company paperwork is filled-out accurately
  • Fully understands blueprints
  • Identify revision levels

The Ideal Candidate:

Perform essential duties and responsibilities in service cells which includes working with a variety of computerized/manual machines and manufacturing operations

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General education Degree (GED)
  • 6 months of manufacturing related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior assembly and/or disassembly experience; prior machine operating experience
  • Experience with manual or automated welding process
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers and other gages used to perform inspection.
  • Education or experience in programming and operations in programmable controllers.
  • PC experience in use of email, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and a cellular work environment.
  • Ability/prior experience reading and understanding routers and process instructions
  • Tube bending experience
  • CVP in Hydro and/or Boroscope
  • Knowledge of swage, shrink processes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and vendors; works collaboratively and respects all others
  • Embraces ambiguity and engages others in idea generation
  • Actively participates and support a team environment

Additional Information:

  • Wages $22.50 per hour
  • Occasionally, the business requires mandatory overtime. Must be able to work overtime, when required
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to work with upper body extremities.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds on occasion. Items more than 30 pounds will be lifted with assistance.
  • Required to pass certification standards test and eye examination
  • Willing to undergo on-the-job training in order to obtain CVP certification within first 6 months as an Associate CMO
  • Willing to participate in MRO drug free workplace program
