Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This position offers remote work opportunity.

Alutiiq Information Management, LLC, a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC, is seeking a Computer Scientist to support our government customer in San Diego, CA. The Computer Scientist/Machine Learning will develop Computer Vision and Machine Learning solutions for the Naval Information Warfare Command (NIWC) Pacific’s RESTORE Laboratory, a Navy research and development facility focused on C5ISR system sustainment and modernization.

• Develop and maintain computer programs using Python and other languages for computer vision and machine learning projects.
• Research, develop, and improve machine learning workflows and applications.
• Utilize neural networks and deep learning for object classification, detection, segmentation, OCR, and text localization.
• Perform data labeling, file and data format conversions, and data cleaning.
• Conduct data analysis, develop tracking models, and manage data pipelines.
• Create reports and visualizations to support algorithm understanding and data presentation.

Pay rate: $100,000 to $120,000 annually

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Python and libraries like Anaconda, with experience in writing functions, classes, and loops.
• Experience in Computer Vision or Machine Learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract stipulations.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of neural networks and deep learning.
• Experience with object detection, OCR, and 3D data like LiDAR.
• Comfortable working in Linux environments.
• Experience with GIT/source control.
• Master's degree in related fields is a plus.
