Job description

Role Overview: Mercor is seeking Computer Scientists with advanced capabilities for a research project with a leading AI lab to benchmark and improve AI systems on computer science research and analysis tasks. You will contribute to a first of it’s kind public benchmark assessing frontier agentic model capabilities.

Qualifications:

Hold or are currently a computer science degree from a distinguished program in Computer Science or a closely related sub-domain (e.g., algorithms, computational complexity, formal methods, automata theory, machine learning theory, programming languages, or logic in computer science) OR have related work experience.

Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in interpreting theoretical results, analyzing algorithmic behavior, and drawing sound formal conclusions

Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong written communication skills, especially in technical or academic writing

About the role:

The role is remote and asynchronous, i.e., you can primarily work on your own schedule

You can work part-time (most team members contribute ~15-25 hours per week)

This position is structured with clear expectations, but is not a high-pressure environment

The project is anticipated to last several months, though you are not obligated to work the full project term

Application and Onboarding Process:

After submitting your resume, you will complete a brief form to help use better understand your expertise

Within a few days, we will then select candidates to bring on for a paid calibration assessment to ensure your abilities of adhering to the project guidelines

Candidates that pass the calibration assessment will then start in the production group of the project

Pay and Legal Status:

The hourly rate for the role is 80-100 USD/hr for US-based candidates

You’ll work as an independent contractor
