Pay

The pay for classes depends on the number of credits and instructional mode (lab, lecture or a combination).

  • In general, each lecture credit is one hour a week and paid at $124.76 per hour ($1372.40 per credit). For example, if the class was five credits, it would meet five hours per week and be paid at 55 hours for the quarter and the salary would be approximately $6,862.
  • Each lab credit is two hours and paid at $62.38 per hour. Therefore, if the class was a three-credit lab, it would meet six hours per week and be paid at 66 hours for the quarter and the pay would be approximately $4,117.
Other Benefits

Part-time faculty may become eligible for healthcare and retirement benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half-time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time (7.5 credits for WVC). Members may 'stack' workloads between other qualifying colleges. A part-time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach, to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part-time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options. Sick leave is awarded every quarter based on the full-time equivalent teaching percent. If eligibility requirements are met, a comprehensive health care benefits package for you and your dependents includes medical, dental and vision insurance. Life and long-term disability insurance plans reduced tuition for the employee; and retirement benefits are also provided. For more information, please visit our human resources website benefits: https://wvc.edu/about/human-resources/benefits.html. Part-time faculty are covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Evening assignments may be a part of the instructional load. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Degrees must be from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and verified by National Student Clearinghouse. International degrees will be verified for U.S. equivalency.

Conditions of Employment
  • The finalist for this position will be subject to a criminal background check prior to the start of employment. Information from the background check will not necessarily prevent employment but will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by HR staff.
  • Wenatchee Valley College has no responsibility or obligation to sponsor an H-1B visa. In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, proof of authorization to work in the United States will be required at the time of hire.

Requests should be made to the human resources office by calling 509-682-6440.
