Job Description
Job Title: Computer Operator
Duration: Direct Full time
This position is overnight for 3 12 1/2 hour shifts. The hours will be 7:45 PM-8:15 AM and the days will be on a rotation. For 3 months the working days will be Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, then the following 3 months the working days will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively monitor the computer operations environment.
- Provide L1 support for batch, online, data communication, and host system estate.
- Assist support personnel, infrastructure teams, and 3rd party maintenance engineers.
- Coordinate US and UK batch schedules to ensure SLA’s are met.
- Communicate and escalate operational issues that impact the business.
- Participate in the daily turnover meeting and ensure Assyst tickets are opened with all pertinent information and assigned to the appropriate resource(s) for review.
- Provide off-hours help desk service for high-priority calls following documented procedures.
- Utilize computer scheduling packages and monitoring tools such as 24x7 and Tivoli.
- Maintain a good general knowledge of the batch schedule elements and how they are constructed.
- Establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives.
- Stay abreast of all batch and host system changes.
- Have a good understanding of ITIL services foundation.
Experience/Skills:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in computer operations.
- Successfully execute operational processes and policies.
- General understanding of server OS and network concepts required for troubleshooting.
- Ability to navigate and monitor node management tools and consoles.
- Ability to handle and resolve multiple problems and document the same.
