Job summary

Stature is seeking an experienced CNC Swiss-Lathe Programmer / Applications Engineer in Marquette, Michigan. You will program, set up, troubleshoot, and run CNC Swiss-lathe equipment, developing efficient, repeatable processes for complex components.

You will take parts from print to production, select tooling, perform setup, and validate parts meet specifications while collaborating with engineering, quality, and production teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on CNC Swiss-lathe programming and setup experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and CAD models.
• Experience with tooling, fixturing, and process optimization.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, troubleshoot, and run CNC Swiss-lathe equipment on Star, Tsugami, or similar platforms.
• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using PartMaker or comparable CAM software.
• Take new components from blueprint, drawing, or CAD model through setup, prove-out, and production.
• Determine tooling, workholding, cutting strategies, speeds, feeds, offsets, and coordinate systems.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, quality, and machining issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints and tolerances to manufacture parts to spec.
• Inspect finished components with precision measuring equipment and adjust as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production for new products and process improvements.
• Improve existing programs and machining processes to increase quality and throughput.

The Opportunity

Stature is partnering with a growing precision manufacturing company in Marquette, Michigan, to recruit an experienced CNC Swiss-Lathe Programmer / Applications Engineer.

This is a hands-on machining role for someone who enjoys taking a component from print to production. The successful candidate will program, set up, troubleshoot, and run CNC Swiss-lathe equipment while helping develop efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes for complex precision components.

This is not a programming-only position. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable developing a CNC program, selecting tooling, completing the machine setup, troubleshooting at the machine, and validating that finished parts meet specification.

What You’ll Do

• Program, set up, troubleshoot, and run CNC Swiss-lathe equipment, including Star, Tsugami, or similar platforms.
• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using PartMaker or comparable CAM software.
• Take new components from blueprint, drawing, or CAD model through setup, prove-out, and production.
• Determine appropriate tooling, workholding, cutting strategies, speeds, feeds, offsets, and coordinate systems.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, quality, and machining issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
• Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment and make adjustments necessary to maintain specification.
• Partner with engineering, quality, and production personnel on new-product introductions and process improvements.
• Improve existing programs and machining processes to increase quality, repeatability, throughput, and efficiency.
• Support Swiss-machining team leaders with program updates, troubleshooting, and technical guidance.
• Provide manufacturing input during the quoting and planning of new components.
• Help identify opportunities to improve tooling, cycle times, setups, and overall machining performance.
