Mohr Talent is hiring an Advanced Swiss Lathe CNC Setup Machinist for weekend production in Grand Rapids, MI. The role requires taking ownership from setup to inspection, producing tight-tolerance components with GD&T, and making adjustments to ensure quality and productivity.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in CNC machining, experience with high-speed CNC equipment, and strong blueprint interpretation skills. The position is a direct hire on-site role with safety and quality procedures in place.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of CNC machining or CNC machine operation experience.
  • Experience setting up and operating high-speed CNC equipment.
  • Ability to understand complex blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerances.
  • Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and other precision inspection instruments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve machining problems.
  • Careful attention to detail and a consistent commitment to part quality.
  • Ability to manage assigned work independently and collaborate with a production team.
  • Ability to remain standing or walking throughout a 12-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up Swiss-style and/or mill-turn CNC machines for production.
  • Operate and monitor equipment throughout the machining cycle.
  • Manufacture precision parts according to established specifications, tolerances, and production expectations.
  • Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
  • Inspect in-process and completed parts using calipers, micrometers, and additional precision measurement tools.
  • Adjust machine settings, tooling, and offsets as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Diagnose machining or equipment issues and complete appropriate troubleshooting.
  • Identify potential defects, process concerns, or production delays before they affect finished parts.
  • Confirm completed components meet all required quality standards.
  • Accurately record production results, measurements, and inspection findings.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Production personnel to address manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe equipment and work areas.
  • Comply with all established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

Job Description

We are hiring an experienced CNC machinist to support weekend production using Swiss-style and mill-turn equipment. This opportunity is best suited for someone who can take ownership of the machining process—from setup and operation through inspection and troubleshooting.

Successful candidates will be comfortable producing tight-tolerance components, interpreting detailed technical drawings, applying GD&T, and making the necessary machine adjustments to maintain consistent quality and productivity.
