The Opportunity
As a Swiss Programmer, you'll be the technical expert driving CNC programming excellence for specialized Swiss-type turning operations. Your programming and optimization skills will directly impact production efficiency, part quality, and the team's ability to meet demanding specifications for precision components. What You'll Do
- Develop and optimize CNC programs specifically for Star Swiss-type lathes to produce complex, high-precision components with tight tolerances
- Set up and operate Star Swiss CNC equipment, ensuring proper tooling selection, fixture configuration, and process parameters are optimized for quality and efficiency
- Utilize CAD/CAM software including SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create, modify, and validate programs before production runs
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to identify and eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and improve overall equipment effectiveness
- Conduct precision inspections using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance with specifications
- Interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications to ensure all programmed parts meet engineering requirements
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot machining challenges, resolve tooling issues, and optimize processes for new part introductions
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of programming changes, setup sheets, tooling lists, and production run data for quality traceability
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols while operating machinery and maintaining a clean, organized work environment
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on Star Swiss programming experience (non‑negotiable requirement)
- 5+ years of CNC Swiss machine operation and programming experience
- Proficiency in Fanuc controls and programming languages
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints
- Solid understanding of GD&T principles and their application in precision machining
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAM programming software (PartMaker, ESPRIT, or similar)
- Knowledge of CATIA software
- Background in medical device, aerospace, or other high‑precision industries
- Proven track record of process optimization and efficiency improvements
