Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist for a temporary assignment supporting a precision manufacturing operation. This hands-on role will be responsible for developing and modifying CNC programs using Mastercam, setting up and operating CNC machinery, and producing high-quality components to tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate has strong Mastercam programming experience and is comfortable working directly on the shop floor. Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated precision manufacturing environments is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam
• Program CNC mills and/or CNC lathes based on engineering drawings and specifications
• Set up, fixture, and operate CNC machinery
• Select appropriate cutting tools, tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
• Perform first-piece inspections and in-process measurements
• Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues
• Make program adjustments to improve cycle time, tool life, surface finish, and part quality
• Perform machine offsets and tool changes as needed
• Verify programs through simulation, dry runs, and/or prove-outs
• Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production personnel to resolve manufacturing issues
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Follow all company quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC machining and programming experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Mastercam
• Experience programming CNC mills, lathes, or other CNC equipment
• Ability to independently set up and operate CNC machines
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Experience selecting tooling and determining appropriate speeds and feeds
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments
• Ability to troubleshoot CNC programs and machining processes
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
• Experience machining complex, close-tolerance components
• Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC machining
• Experience with CNC mills and/or turning centers
• Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, or other aerospace materials
• Familiarity with AS9100 or other quality-management systems
