Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Bay City, MI, seeks a friendly CT Technologist to produce tomographic radiographs in line with policy and physician orders. You will operate and maintain CT equipment and position patients to obtain accurate diagnostic images.

This full‑time role includes a 30,000 sign‑on bonus and opportunities for professional growth within radiology. Requirements include AMA‑approved radiology program graduation, ARRT CT certification, and current BLS.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology.
  • Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Cross-training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within 12 months.
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster comfort.
  • Operates and maintains tomography scanner equipment.
  • Positions patients to correctly capture the requested images.
  • Identifies, prepares and administers medications within technologist scope.
  • Maintains documentation and logs in paper and electronic formats.
  • Performs routine maintenance and quality testing of imaging equipment.
  • Assists in other radiology areas as needed.

Education

Job description

  • 30,000 SIGN ON BONUS***
Position Summary: Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
  • Operates and maintains all assigned imaging department equipment including but not limited to tomography scanner equipment.
  • In addition to conducting scans, prepares patients for these diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
  • Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.
  • Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
  • Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
  • May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Lead Duties and Responsibilities (If classified in a Lead Role):

  • Assists in quality control and performance improvement activities.
  • Contributes to performance feedback, hiring decisions.
  • Ensures standards are met (quality, timeliness, customer service, etc.).
  • Evaluates and tests new procedures/processes.
  • Orients and/or trains new staff.
  • Problem solving capabilities.
  • Subject matter expert/technical leadership.
  • Work flow/distribution of work.
  • Assists in assuring compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws, and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.

Qualifications: Required:

  • Certified as a Computed Tomography Technologist
  • If not CT Certified, cross training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within 12 months.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology
  • Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Current BLS certification

Required for Lead: Certified as CT Technologist

Preferred: Associate degree in radiology

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Position/Subsidiary Specific:

  • Certified within fifteen (15) months of hire or transfer
  • If you do not have the requirements above, we also accept
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Certified through NMTCB
