Job summary

McLaren seeks a per diem CT Technologist to produce tomographic radiographs in accordance with policy, under general supervision. You will examine patient history, explain procedures, and ensure comfort while delivering accurate images.

The role requires AMA-approved radiology training, ARRT CT and general radiology certifications, and current BLS. Cross-training from another ARRT modality to CT within 12 months is expected if not CT-certified.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification in general radiology or CT, with CT certification preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Cross-training from another ARRT modality to CT within 12 months if not CT certified

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history, explains procedures and addresses concerns to comfort patients.
• Operates and maintains tomography scanner equipment and other imaging devices.
• Position patients and explain processes to ensure correct image capture as requested by physicians.
• Administers medications within technologist scope as prescribed.
• Performs quality assurance and practices radiation safety to minimize exposure.

Job description

Position Summary:

Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
2. Operates and maintains all assigned imaging department equipment including but not limited to tomography scanner equipment.
3. In addition to conducting scans, prepares patients for these diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
4. Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
5. Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• Certified as CT Technologist
• If not CT Certified, cross training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within twelve (12) months.
• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology
• Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
• Current BLS certification
