Job summary

McLaren Health in Michigan is seeking a CT Technologist to produce tomographic radiographs per policy, ensuring quality and safety. The role requires patient prep, positioning, and clear communication to support diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities include operating imaging equipment, maintaining QA processes, and assisting in other radiology areas as needed. Certification and BLS are required, with cross-training to CT possible within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology.
• Certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT.
• Current BLS certification.
• Cross-training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within 12 months.
• Lead role requires CT technologist certification (if applicable).
• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
• Operates and maintains tomography scanner equipment.
• Positions patients and explains the process to capture requested images.
• Identifies, prepares and administers medications within scope of practice.
• Performs quality assurance and radiation safety to minimize exposure.
• Maintains documentation in paper and electronic formats.
• Maintains supplies for quality testing.
• Performs routine maintenance and checks on imaging equipment.
• May assist other radiology areas as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Position Summary:

Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
2. Operates and maintains all assigned imaging department equipment including but not limited to tomography scanner equipment.
3. In addition to conducting scans, prepares patients for these diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
4. Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist's scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
5. Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.
6. Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
7. Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
8. Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
9. May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

• Contributes to performance feedback, hiring decisions.
• Ensures standards are met (quality, timeliness, customer service, etc.).
• Evaluates and tests new procedures/processes.

• Subject matter expert/technical leadership.
• Work flow/distribution of work.
• Assists in assuring compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws, and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Certified as a Computed Tomography Technologist
• If not CT Certified, cross training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within 12 months.
• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology
• Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
• Current BLS certification

Required for Lead:

• Certified as CT Technologist

Preferred:

• Associate degree in radiology

Position/Subsidiary Specific:

• Certified within fifteen (15) months of hire or transfer
