Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Senior Manager, Compute Accounting to own the end-to-end accounting for compute and cloud infrastructure spend. You will oversee the complete lifecycle from contract review to accruals, prepaids, and vendor reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and robust controls as Anthropic scales.

You will partner with Engineering, Legal, Procurement, and Finance to understand accounting implications before commitments, establish policy, and drive process

Qualifications

• CPA (or equivalent) with GAAP and strong technical accounting skills.
• Knowledge of ASC 842 as applied to compute/infrastructure.
• Experience with cloud service cost structures and consumption-based services.
• Ability to translate contracts into proper accounting treatment for stakeholders.
• Experience building accounting processes, controls, and policy in high-growth environments.
• Proficient with ERP systems (NetSuite, Workday, Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Own the complete accounting lifecycle for compute and cloud expenses through close, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Review contracts for proper accounting treatment and commitment tracking.
• Apply ASC 842 to compute arrangements, including embedded leases and classifications.
• Collaborate with Eng, Legal, Procurement, and Finance during negotiation and execution.
• Develop policies for recognizing and amortizing compute costs across providers.
• Design accrual and prepayment processes reflecting timing and cost patterns.
• Track multi-year commitments and ensure disclosure accuracy.
• Lead AP and vendor reconciliations with cloud providers; resolve discrepancies.
• Build scalable controls and reporting to monitor compute spending trends.
• Partner with external auditors and mentor the Compute Accounting team.
