Job summary

ExxonMobil seeks a highly skilled Computational Scientist to develop and analyze physics-based and data-driven models for oil and gas problems. You will collaborate across global teams and external partners to accelerate computational science technology.

The role focuses on balancing accuracy and runtime while incorporating uncertainty. The position requires a PhD in a related field, deep learning expertise, and strong programming skills in Python or C++.

Qualifications

• PhD from a recognized university in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Geoscience, Computational Science, or a closely related field.
• Experience in developing, applying, and analyzing physics-based models and related algorithms.
• Strong background in multiscale/multiphysics modeling, scientific computing, and numerical analysis.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning and architectures (autoencoder, transformer, diffusion model, GAN).
• Experience with surrogate modeling to reduce computational cost while preserving accuracy.
• Experience with convex and PDE-constrained optimization problems.
• Proficient in Python or C++/C#, and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
• Experience with Linux and HPC environments; DevOps and software testing practices are a plus.
• Excellent communication for interdisciplinary collaboration.
