Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a computational materials scientist to help build a virtual materials testing environment, a mesoscale digital twin to accelerate testing and improve the structural design basis.

You will join a diverse team of scientists and engineers, developing models for deformation and cracking while collaborating with internal and external partners to drive innovation and implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in a technical field with relevant experience.
• PhD with mesoscale simulation or fracture mechanics experience is preferred.
• Solid programming with HPC experience in Fortran/C++/Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop mesoscale simulation models and a virtual materials testing environment.
• Collaborate with internal engineers and external partners on model deployment.
• Support improvements to testing, design basis, and deformation/cracking management.
